About Bertram Logistics

Bertram Logistics is an Australian-owned transport and logistics provider specialising in interstate linehaul and full trailer load (FTL) freight movements. Based in Sydney, we service key freight corridors across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, with capability extending into long-haul and regional Western Australian routes where approved.

We focus exclusively on dedicated freight movements — providing customers with reliable, compliant, and transparent transport solutions for time-critical and long-distance work.

Our Approach

At Bertram Logistics, our approach is built around flexibility, compliance, and operational discipline. We understand that freight requirements vary, and we structure our operations to support both high-volume movements and time-critical ad-hoc work, alongside scheduled interstate linehaul.

We work across a range of freight tasks, including volume courier-style work, ad-hoc movements, and dedicated full trailer load services, while maintaining the same focus on safety, communication, and accountability across every job.

Our team is experienced in adapting to changing customer requirements, whether that involves:

  • scheduled depot-to-depot linehaul,

  • overflow or peak-period volume freight, or

  • urgent, one-off transport tasks requiring rapid response.

Regardless of job size or frequency, every movement is planned and executed in line with Chain of Responsibility obligations and Heavy Vehicle National Law requirements. We place strong emphasis on clear instructions, realistic scheduling, and transparent communication to ensure consistent outcomes for our customers.

This flexible approach allows Bertram Logistics to support a broad range of customers — from national freight networks and 3PL providers to businesses requiring responsive, short-notice transport solutions.

Compliance & Safety

Bertram Logistics operates in accordance with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and maintains documented systems aligned with NHVAS accreditation, including:

  • Mass Management

  • Basic Fatigue Management (BFM)

  • Maintenance Management

We actively manage fatigue, speed, mass, maintenance, and load restraint to ensure all movements are conducted safely and lawfully. Our compliance framework supports both our drivers and our customers in meeting their Chain of Responsibility requirements.

Fleet & Capability

Our fleet and contracted equipment support a wide range of interstate FTL tasks, including:

  • 22 pallet semi-trailers

  • 34 pallet drop deck mezzanine B-doubles

  • 36 pallet high-cube super drop trailers (4.6m where approved)

  • Road train configurations where permitted

All equipment is maintained to suit long-distance interstate operations, with a focus on reliability and presentation.

Who We Work With

We work with:

  • National manufacturers

  • Freight forwarders and 3PL providers

  • Linehaul and depot-to-depot networks

  • Customers requiring dedicated interstate capacity

Our customers value consistency, compliance, and direct communication — and we structure our operations accordingly.

Our story

A road-freight business built on a name

Bertram Logistics is an Australian family-owned interstate road freight operator headquartered at Menangle Park, in Sydney's Macarthur region. The business is owner-operated, run day to day by Mitchell Bertram as National Operations Manager, and shares its name with the family for the simple reason that names carry consequences. When the business is named after you, the standard you accept is the standard you live with.

We move freight across Australia's east coast — Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide — and east-west into Western Australia. We do not operate in the Northern Territory in our own fleet (we sub to vetted partners on those occasional movements). We do not run cold chain and we do not chase parcel courier work. The work we have built our standards around is full-trailer-load (FTL) and palletised LTL interstate linehaul, scheduled and ad-hoc, for shippers, manufacturers, building-products distributors and 3PLs who want a directly accountable carrier on the other end of the phone.

From Bertram Transport to Bertram Logistics. The business has traded historically as Bertram Transport. We rebranded to Bertram Logistics to better describe the work we now do — interstate linehaul rather than local cartage, with a tech stack and accreditation posture that matches that scale. The 'Logistics' in the name is not borrowed marketing language. It is a recognition that the modern interstate carrier is also a data and compliance business: HubFleet electronic work diaries on every truck, Geotab telematics with in-cab cameras across the fleet, TransVirtual TMS for consignment notes and photographic POD, and a documented Safety Management System that lines up with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and our NHVAS audits.

Mitchell Bertram, Managing Director. Mitchell leads the business. [PLACEHOLDER — Mitchell to add: 2–3 sentence personal bio covering years in road transport, prior roles, what he believes about how interstate freight should be run.] The Managing Director is reachable on the same number customers and drivers use: 1800 256 447. That is not an accident of website design — it is the operating posture of the business.

Why owner-operator beats corporate, on lanes that matter. The Australian road-freight market is dominated at the top end by national primes whose scale gives them enormous reach but whose decisions about your freight sit a long way away from the truck doing the work. The bottom end is dominated by tens of thousands of single-truck operators whose capacity and accreditation posture vary dramatically. Bertram sits in the gap that matters: large enough to be an NHVAS-grade operator with documented systems, modern equipment, and the technology stack that 3PLs and quality-conscious shippers expect; small enough that the Managing Director knows every load on the board, every driver on the road, and the dispatchers and account managers at every customer.

Accreditation, technology, panel-readiness. Bertram is NHVAS accredited under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme: Mass Management, Basic Fatigue Management (BFM), and Maintenance Management. We are building toward the 1 July 2026 Heavy Vehicle Assurance (HVA) transition. Our internal policy and procedure stack is structured for HVA compatibility from the outset.

Family-owned, locally based, deliberately small at scale. We are deliberately small at the scale where small-operator advantages matter: relationship continuity, direct accountability, fast decision-making, named drivers on lanes our customers care about. We are deliberately equipped at the scale where modern operators have to be: NHVAS accreditation, modern fleet, in-cab cameras, electronic work diaries, TMS-grade reporting, current insurance limits.
