HR Driver — Local, Sydney
About the role
Bertram Logistics is a family-owned, NHVAS-accredited freight operator, and we are looking for a reliable HR (Heavy Rigid) driver for local, home-every-night work based in Sydney. You will handle metro pickups and deliveries and depot-to-depot shuttle runs that feed our interstate linehaul network. This is a steady role with a modern, well-maintained fleet, a safety-first culture, and a team that treats drivers as people, not numbers. What you'll do
Run rigid trucks across the Sydney metropolitan area on local pickups and deliveries. Move freight between customer sites and our depots, feeding the interstate linehaul fleet. Load and unload safely, and restrain freight correctly every time. Capture proof of delivery and keep accurate run paperwork and electronic records. Carry out daily pre-start checks and report any defects promptly. Represent Bertram professionally and courteously on customer sites. Work safely and within fatigue, speed and load-restraint rules at all times.
About you
A current HR (Heavy Rigid) licence in good standing. A clean driving record and a strong safety attitude. Sound knowledge of load restraint and fatigue requirements. Good knowledge of the Sydney metropolitan road network. Reliable, punctual and presentable, with a courteous manner on customer sites. Physically fit for loading and unloading work. A current forklift licence and previous metro distribution experience are advantageous but not essential. Australian working rights required.
Hours, location & pay
Local Sydney-based work — home every night. Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday work available for those who want extra hours. Day shift, with start times to suit metro distribution runs. We pay above-award rates for reliable, professional drivers, with the exact rate based on your experience and discussed at interview. This is an ongoing, secure role with consistent work — not seasonal or casual unless you prefer it.
