Bertram Logistics is hiring experienced MC and HC interstate drivers. We are an Australian family-owned operator headquartered at Menangle Park NSW, and we run NHVAS Mass, BFM and Maintenance accredited interstate lanes between Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
If you are tired of driving for a number rather than a name, tired of fatigue rosters that exist on paper but not in practice, or tired of waiting two days for someone to call you back when something goes wrong on the road — read on.
What we offer drivers. Family-owned, owner-operated employer — the National Operations Manageris reachable on the same number our drivers and customers use. NHVAS BFM accreditation, run properly — HubFleet electronic work diary on every truck, trip plans you can rely on, rest periods scheduled rather than begged for. Modern Geotab-equipped fleet — telematics across the fleet, in-cab cameras for both safety and exoneration, active safety tech on newer prime movers. Long Distance Award (MA000039) terms — industry-standard pay structure, transparently calculated, penalty rates and allowances paid as the Award sets them out. Mental Health and Wellbeing Program aligning to the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds national framework — crisis support, fatigue and impairment culture, anti-bullying, access to confidential help. A Driver Handbook (DRV-01) you actually use — documented procedures so you know what is expected and how it is supported.
What we expect from drivers. Current MC or HC licence appropriate to the equipment. Current heavy-vehicle medical (HVNL fatigue-regulated). Recent driver-history extract (no live disqualifying incidents). Pre-employment drug and alcohol test, with random testing thereafter. Discipline around BFM trip planning, EWD entries, restraint, and pre-trip inspection. Professional presentation in Bertram-branded uniform on-site and at customers.
Lanes we run. Sydney–Brisbane, Sydney–Melbourne, Sydney–Adelaide, Sydney–Perth. East-west capacity also from Melbourne and Brisbane to Perth. Most opportunities are interstate linehaul under BFM rosters; lane allocation depends on lane volumes and on driver preference where we can match it.
Driver life. Day-to-day life as a Bertram driver depends on the lane, the equipment and the roster you are on, but the shape is consistent. Trip plans are reviewed before departure. Changes are by agreement, not by surprise. The discipline is what you owe in return for BFM flexibility: plan to the rest plan, EWD entries on time, take rest where the trip plan says, pre-trip inspection on every shift, report incidents and near-misses honestly. We will not ask you to drive fatigued, carry freight that is not properly restrained, take a load you are not licensed and equipped for, or hide a near-miss. If you encounter pressure to do any of those things — from a customer, a dispatcher, anyone — call the National Operations Manager on 1800 256 447. That is the line we hold.
FAQ. Are you hiring right now? We are always interested in hearing from experienced MC and HC interstate drivers, and we recruit specifically when lane volumes warrant. Even when we have no current vacancy, a strong application keeps you on the list when one opens. What rosters do you run? BFM-disciplined rosters that respect home time and rest periods. Specific rosters depend on lane and on the driver — talk to us. Do you take new MC drivers? We hire experienced interstate drivers as a default, and we are open to talking to a newly-licensed MC driver who has solid HC experience and the right attitude. Apply and we'll be straight with you.
